New tips to develop the brain and prevent dementia

Yesterday, I read an article about brain development study. The Kumong center, the tutor center, have conducted the experiment. They investigated the brain function by the instrument while the subjects were doing the activities. Three activities that included reading aloud, mathematic calculation, and social interaction (talking) were tested. They found that the brain have active function while the subjects were doing these activities. That's good. So now I have to practice everyday by
- Reading everything aloud
- Talk by myself
For calculation, I already love mathematic calculation, no problem about this.

Krama determine destiny

In the early morning, I read the article from Voaspecialenglish website. It addresses regarding Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD,  consequent stress happen after encountering or experiencing in unexpected situation. For example, the soldier have seen a lot of death or destruction from war conflict or someone whose parents just passes away. They conducted the animal experiment with rats and cat's waste. The rats become stressed after smelling the cat's litter for 10 minutes. The gene activity of this symptom related to corticosteroid. One doctor observed some patients who take this hormone after a car accident become more calmly. They hypothesised that PTSD linked to gene activity via glucocorticoid (stress hormone) receptor. Hence, blood test marker for PTSD may relate to the substance that involve this receptor. However, some patients did not respond to corticosteroid therapy due to turn-off receptors.

This article spark me thinking of the law of karma, Buddha Dhamma. Gene in Thai related to Karma. Genes determine our body the same as Karma determines our destiny. Our life is originated from our past action (Karma). So we should do good karma then we will encounter good consequences.

Determination

I often forget my determination since I have not record it. After meeting my supervisor today. I will record my daily English development activities.

  - After get up I have to wake myself in a peak emotional state by listening to music, dancing, and jumping.
 - Imagine myself can speak English fluently in public 
 - Speak incantation: I am a confident public speaker. I am excellent in English communication.

I have to do everyday to improve my English, reaching my goal: Fluent English speaker.

How to memorise new vocabulary effectively-Make a fun story

I got some idea for increasing my English vocabulary from my daughter. She attended the popular speaker, Dr. Pop-his pen name. He suggested how to memorise the new words. He gave an example in Thai. For example, if we want to memorise 5 new words, we should make these as a funny story. I applied this tip to increase my English vocabulary. I want to memorise these words: perseverance, collate, decipher, excerpt, corroborate, and inference. I make a story named: Detective "Nina"
This is the story.

Nina would like to be a detective. With perseverance, she read newspaper everyday. Moreover, she cut many passages from newspapers, mostly from politicians' interviews. She collated these passages and try to decipher each "excerpt" from the interviews. Afterwards, she try to figure out their code by searching their background. Later, she often corroborate their cheating behaviour with their past history. Finally, her inference of these finding were posted on her personal blog.

Armistice

Today, I learn "Armistice". This word means stop flighting. We use this word for the war, they want to stop war they will use armistice. In Thailand, we had faced the war between the soldiers and the protesters. The King stopped this flighting by call two opposition negotiated.

Rescind

"Rescind" means cancel, this word is used when we applied the job, the boss of the company do not want us to work with him/her, he/she will rescind us. Another example, we use this word for the law, if the government do not accept the law, the law is rescinded. In the my real situation, in past, I had been studying for master degree at Khon Kaen University, I was interested in pharmacokinetic field and want to run the research about it. Dr. Julrat Konsilp, new staff who just graduated in Pharmacokinetic area. I wanted to do the research with her, so she was angry me about something, she rescind me to do the research with her. I had to change to another staff in the pharmaceutical chemistry department, I enjoined to work with her.

laggard

Today, I have learned the new vocabulary from Vocabahead website. It is "Laggard". I see the picture accompany with this word. The bus driver shout the boy should hurry up, and the boy is collecting his stationery to his bag. This vocabulary means the slowpoke, the person who do something slowly. And when I search this word in the collins dictionary, this word does not mean the person but it means the product or the country or the company which are not performing as well as their competitors. I will build the sentence from this word. "I am a laggard too, because I had sent my children to the van lately, the van diver complained through my children that we should hurry up to be on time, should not later than 7.30 am, this make my children late in their school. I must to hurry up my children to dress and to have breakfast quickly or I should wake them earlier than usual time. I don't want to blame my faculty that we are a laggard, even if we are a small faculty, but something we do more advance than other faculty.
